In short, yes, that’s our plan. Thanks to our proprietary machine learning and computer vision algorithms we are able to go directly from your pictures to a cut pattern suitable for keeping things organized in fixed locations. We have people to help the robots when necessary.
All of the foam drawer pictures on our site are real pictures of real drawers run through our standard process. We target a snug fit for toolboxes that may be wheeled around a shop but probably aren't bouncing around the back of a truck. If you need an extra tight fit, contact us and we can help.
If you put things in your picture with tape that look like extra cutouts for finger-pulls, or whatever, we'll probably see them and cut them. Otherwise its pretty easy to add them yourself later. Our customization kit makes it even easier.
Shim it! Or our customization kit makes this easier.
We can cut super-thin sections but you probably won't like it. We recommend at least 6mm (1/4") between objects, especially if they share a long edge. Remember that there will be small but non-zero clearance around your objects.
Not currently. If you'd like to have a double layer of 1/2" foam, contact us and we'll work it out for you. Note that with our laser processing it won't be a straight-down wall for the 1" distance.
Laser processing means the edges won't be as tight as a knife.
It doesn't take much, you can do it with your phone. Take your picture straight down, above the center of the drawer, and not too close. Make sure all four corners of the drawer bottom are visible in your picture. For a typical phone camera, try to have the drawer cover only the middle 1/2 of the frame and don't use the wide angle lens. If you can't get high enough above the drawer, take the whole drawer out and put it on the floor.
Plenty of light is great but not so much that it blinds your camera. Try to have even lighting without harsh shadows but don't stress too much about it, our algorithms are pretty good. Matte black on matte black in dim basement lighting is pretty tough though. If you don't have enough contrast, you can put a piece of paper down in your drawer for a better picture.
If you don't have the "drawer" you can put your items on a piece of paper and draw a line around them the size of your drawer. We'll use the inside of the line if its a thick line.
We store it on our servers and may use it to improve our algorithms or other internal purposes. If you'd like us to delete your photo from our servers, contact us and we'll see what we can reasonably do.
Not sure, but we'll let you know if we have a problem with it. Please don't send us pictures of anything illegal or hateful. We will politely refuse to deal with it.
High quality 4lb cross linked polyethylene foam. Its the gold standard for tool control. We picked one that feels tough, looks classy, and won’t pick up too many fingerprints. Feel free to contact us if you need MSDS sheets for your files.
Anytime. You can order a sample kit for $10 which includes a coupon for $20 off your first order over $100.
Depends on the size of your drawer and the number of items, and the thickness foam you select.
